Invincible Summer Yacht

'Invincible Summer' is our summer home. The photos below were taken the day we she was lifted and hauled-out after our 2023 season and set on the hard. The linens are removed from the staterooms and such so it's not as appointed as it usually is.

She is a Coast Guard documented yacht that we bought and named 'Invincible Summer' several years ago. She is propelled by two large Cummins Diamond-Series diesel engines that create a whirlpool in both 175 gallon fuel tanks. She has a full array of electronics (radar, GPS, chart plotter, auto-pilot, etc), two staterooms and 3rd small berth, A/C/Heat, hydraulic swim platform, hydraulic lazarette (garage for water toys), washer/dryer, central vac (or what we call our 'spider mitigation system'), galley with a full-sized fridge, an additional fridge & ice-maker in the rear cockpit area ... basically all the comforts of home.

She spends winters in heated storage in Holland, Michigan getting a long list of work done on her by the fine folks at ME-YR. If you have a yacht on the Great Lakes and need or just want the very best quality workmanship, you can do no better than ME-YR. They continually demonstrate their region-wide reputation for superb, 1st class workmanship. During the winter, we count the days until we splash her in early June!

She is named after a poem by Albert Camus that reminds me of the internal strength within us all:

“My dear,

In the midst of hate, I found there was, within me, an invincible love.

In the midst of tears, I found there was, within me, an invincible smile.

In the midst of chaos, I found there was, within me, an invincible calm.

I realized, through it all, that … In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer.

And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there’s something stronger – something better, pushing right back."

~ Albert Camus
